LaLiga has published a study showing how youth development investment has been key to Spain's football success. The report highlights that Spain has won 23 titles across men's, women's, and youth national teams in the past decade, surpassing other European countries. The analysis also reveals that players formed in academies have generated over €466M in transfers, excluding training rights income. Celta Vigo, with 43.1% of minutes played by academy graduates in the 2025/26 season, reflects this trend. Juan Florit, head of LaLiga's football projects department, emphasizes that this sustainable approach benefits clubs and the national team. The report notes that 20.1% of LaLiga minutes correspond to academy graduates, outperforming leagues like France or Germany. LaLiga Hypermotion also shows how clubs like Málaga, Racing, and Deportivo prioritize their graduates, with Málaga leading at 57.3% minutes. The study concludes that the Spanish model forms versatile players, as seen in those who adapted distinct styles in Euro 2024 and World Cup 2026.
