France recorded its hottest day ever on June 24, with temperatures reaching nearly 41°C in Paris and a red heat alert in half the country. Between June 22 and 28, 2,025 additional deaths were registered in France, a 30% increase, and a 62% rise in Paris alone. Extreme temperatures also impacted other clubs, such as Celta Vigo, which postponed their La Liga opener against Osasuna after a fungal outbreak damaged the Estadio de Balaidos pitch. The issue arose when temperatures remained above 25°C for three consecutive weeks.
