Celta Vigo loan Carlos Domínguez to Oviedo Celta Vigo have reached an agreement with Oviedo to loan defender Carlos Domínguez (25) for the 2026-27 season. The player, who still has two years left on his contract with the club, will seek more playing time under manager Julián Calero, where he will reunite with former Celta teammate David Costas. Celta finished the 2025 season in 6th place in La Liga with 54 points (14W-12D-12L), and are now preparing for the upcoming campaign. Domínguez, who made 13 appearances across all competitions last season, was not part of Claudio Giráldez's plans and becomes the sixth player loaned to a Spanish club this summer.
Why Oviedo? Despite having offers from La Liga, Domínguez chose to drop down a division to secure more playing time. At Oviedo, he will be part of an ambitious Segunda División project, where he hopes to establish himself as a starter.
What does this mean for Celta? With this loan, Celta have reached the maximum of six loans to Spanish clubs allowed by the Federation. Any further departures will have to be to foreign teams. The club has already loaned out five other players: Hugo Sotelo, Manu Sánchez, Unai Núñez, Damián Rodríguez, and Carlos Dotor.
