Celta Vigo has officially announced that Hugo González, who scored six goals in the pre-season, will join the first team for the upcoming season. The player, a star of Celta Fortuna and top scorer of the reserve team, joined the club a year and a half ago and now gets to debut in La Liga.

Technical Director Claudio Giráldez praised his work: "He is joining us legally. He will be with us for the entire season; he already knows it and is very happy that he has broken down the door of the first team through hard work, evolution, and goals, not just during pre-season but also last season. It's well-deserved that he is with us this year and we are sure he will bring a lot to the team".

González, who was a reference in the reserve team, expressed his happiness: "I am super happy and very eager for my first season in La Liga". The player thanked for the opportunity: "Since I arrived at Celta, I felt super comfortable. They gave me that bit of confidence that perhaps I had lost. The good atmosphere in the club, the people around it, and the teammates have helped me find my place. At the end, when one is happy, things happen on their own. The first person I called was my girlfriend, then my father, and now I will call my mother and the rest of the people because Claudio confirmed it to me just before the match".

González also spoke about sharing his last season with Iago Aspas: "It's wonderful to do so with a person like Iago and I don't even count as a player. To learn a lot and suck in some of Iago's experience, and hopefully we will give a very good surprise this year".
