La Liga announced that it has agreed with both clubs and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to postpone the 2026-2027 La Liga Round 1 match between Celta Vigo and Osasuna, which was originally scheduled to take place on August 16 at Balaidos Stadium in Vigo, Spain.
According to Celta Vigo, the pitch was damaged by a fungal disease and restoration efforts were delayed due to unfavorable weather conditions over the past few days, ultimately leading to the postponement of the match.
The match will now be held on August 27. However, Osasuna strongly protested the rescheduled date, arguing that the new schedule puts them at a disadvantage.
In a statement, Osasuna said: "We understand the situation in which, despite Celta Vigo's efforts, the match could not be played on the scheduled date." However, they added: "As Osasuna and our fans are clearly the ones most severely impacted, it would be logical to find a new venue for the match or set a new date acceptable to both clubs."
