Celta Vigo has opened a free photographic exhibition tracing over 70 years of the club's history through eleven of its Galician legends. The show, titled 'As cores de Galicia: o celeste na pel', launched on Monday at the Abanca Balaídos stadium esplanade and will run until November 13.
The exhibition features 56 analog photographs capturing the players in historical Celta kits. The eleven honoured footballers were born across Galicia's four provinces, including towns like Catoira, Ferrol, Santiago de Compostela and Ourense. This project reinforces the club's identity, deeply tied to its land and its people. Photographer Lucas Méndez explained the creative process behind the exhibition, from the selection of settings to the choice of subjects.
The launch of this cultural display comes during a period of mixed sporting fortunes for the first team. Celta Vigo sit 10th in La Liga with 12 points from 11 games, following a recent 3-0 defeat to Rayo Vallecano. Their next fixture is a home match against bottom-side Levante on November 8. Fans attending Balaídos for that game will have the chance to visit the exhibition and connect with the club's heritage. Admission is free for all supporters until it closes. The team's record this season shows two wins, six draws, and three losses, leaving them 18 points behind the league leaders, Barcelona. They have scored 10 goals and conceded 10. Their recent form over the last five matches includes two wins, one draw, and two losses. Prior to the defeat to Rayo, the side secured a home win against Alaves and a goalless draw with Real Betis.
